Our Vision for the Future

Academic Excellence
Prioritizing core curriculum standards and providing modern resources to ensure every student achieves their highest academic potential.

Transparent Leadership
Fostering open communication between the board, parents, and teachers to build trust and ensure accountability in our district.

Student Well-being
We should strive to bring exciting field trips, assemblies, labs and more to our students!

01 - Improving Academic Achievement
All Students in LESD deserve to be at grade level or above. With about half of our students currently below grade level, we must do more. We should especially find ways to have increased support for historically disadvantaged groups. For our students at grade level or above, they deserve to be engaged and challenged.
02 - Better Parent Engagement and Involvement
Our schools need to do more to bring parents in and make it easier for them to support their kids education. We must reduce barriers for parents to help in the classroom, provide training and resources about what their students are learning, and empower parents to advocate. As a PTA Leader and district parent leader for the last six years, I know what parents face, and I have successfully advocated for improvements. However, there are policies that can easily and safely be changed to help working parents, like requiring 1-2 weeks advance notice for events so parents can take time off work.

03 - Expanded Oppertunities and Experiences for Students
Let's dream bigger! We should strive to bring exciting field trips, assemblies, labs and more to our students! We need to expand their horizons and expose them to more than just what's around them. Schools with larger budgets have more resources and connections, so their students can swim, create films, go to professional theaters, or have multi-day trips across the country. LESD students are not given those same opportunities. This needs to change. Just because 84% of our families are socioeconomically disadvantaged does not mean our kids don't deserve, and should be restricted, from those exact same experiences.
04 - Increased Partnership with Teachers and Staff
The District needs to partner more with the teachers and classified staff to support our students. We must achieve smaller class sizes, more targeted support for staff, additional hours, and supportive policies to achieve better connection with the students. Teachers and staff must collaborate in the early stages of District policies because they are on the front lines. They know exactly what their children want and need.
